Projects and Activities

Our Kiwanis club participates in a variety of projects throughout the year that involve fundraising, community service, and assisting children locally and worldwide.  Additionally, we have speakers at our weekly meetings to explore topics of interest to the membership. We engage in a number of social activities to share experiences, talents and our collective interests. All represent great opportunities for service, friendships and personal growth.

Below are the projects and activities in which we are currently involved:

  • Third Grade Book Giveaway
    • Members of our club visited the Cardinal Intermediate, Ledgemont Elementary and Burton Elementary schools.  We assembled with the third grade class at each school to surprise the children with a book of their very own.  When we told the children that they could pick out a book and take it home with them, their faces filled with joy and smiles were shared.  It was such a wonderful experience for our members to share those moments with them.  The books that they received were mostly from from the Magic Tree House or Junie B. Jones collections.  The excitement they showed continues to encourage us to fund projects that support education and foster the love of reading.  Since the giveaway, we have received many wonderful thank you letters the children wrote expressing their appreciation for the books.  We share the letters with our members during our meetings and we all enjoy reading each and every one of them.
